We’ve moved!

Magnificent colorful sunsets and a 180 degree view of the desert horizon are just two of the inspiring features of our new production studio in Placitas, New Mexico. Located between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, Placitas is a historic Southwest village which was formed in 1745 by the San Antonio de Las Huertas Spanish land grant. The new workspace has more than twice the square footage of our previous, which means more room for your large and commercial projects.

Submaterial now has an official Facebook page where we will be sharing images of projects as they move through production, introducing new products and announcing press and upcoming events. New Products

We’ve been working hard all summer on perfecting our production methods, and now Submaterial is making the new Index series of wool felt and cork wall coverings available for order. The three varieties of Index are solidcolor-blocked and dimensional. Each version is suitable for either residential or commercial environments, and consists of dense wool felt bonded to a cork composite backing. The wall coverings are manufactured in 6” H x 24” W “tiles” that are applied to the wall using wall covering adhesive.

The dense felts used to create these wall coverings are of the highest quality and have an A or B flame-spread rating. The treated cork composite backing similarly has a B flame-spread rating. The combination of wool felt and cork help to reduce harsh acoustics while adding a soft textile touch to walls.

A wide range of colors is available, and custom design is still an option since we’ll be producing each batch to order. Find more information in the New Products section of our website www.submaterial.com. We’d love to hear from you and discuss how our new wall covering can become part of your next project. Get in touch!

Submaterial is very excited to introduce Dawn Fischer, our new manufacturer’s rep for the Alaska-Washington-Oregon-Idaho region.  A former designer with global architecture firm NBBJ, Dawn established her company ID Project to promote design excellence in the Northwest. She will be reaching out to regional architecture and design firms to share the unique designs of our studio and develop custom projects. Connect with Dawn through her website www.idprojectnw.com.
