Commercial Project

The current issue of Interior Design Magazine includes an in-depth feature on Gensler and their bold rethinking of the new KCET Los Angeles television studio in Burbank, CA. Submaterial was selected by Gensler to fabricate the colorful wool felt wall coverings used throughout the project, and our studio also provided the unique recessed wool felt and powder-coated aluminum ceiling accents which can be seen in the below photo over the sofa and bench by Antonio Citterio.

An excellent video walk-through of the KCET project with descriptions and commentary from Gensler principal Michael White can be seen here on the Interior Design Magazine website. Thanks again to Gensler for including us in their design vision for KCET!

Event

Dawn Fischer of ID Project, our manufacturer’s rep up in the misty Northwest, is launching a new local designer showcase called ID LAB. The mission of ID LAB is to provide a platform for local furniture designers to gain increased exposure and market share in the Northwest. Supporting this new collective is a pop-up showroom which will draw attention to these great local makers, and also show off the work of the several lines she represents. Submaterial will be featured in an exhibition at the showroom September 5 – 20 and David Hamlin, design principal at Submaterial, will be in attendance at the September 5 opening. For address and more information regarding events at the ID LAB showroom, visit the ID Project website.

In response to your many requests and suggestions, we are now producing Index Dimensional and our other wool felt and cork wall coverings as finished panels for your projects. We can even build the surfaces over a substrate of hard acoustical foam, enhancing their sound absorption even further. These affordable panels mount using the same concealed cleat integrated into the backs of all our panels. Contact us for pricing and lead-times.
