We are excited to offer the Wood Series, a modular wood wall covering system. Created with the natural and renewable materials that we value, its easy geometry and precise craftsmanship reflect the ethos of our studio.

This unique product is fabricated with wood veneer laid over MDF with channels routed out and inlaid with cork. Like assembling a puzzle, each modular tile or panel holds a piece of the pattern of the bold graphic surface. Wood Wall System is available in walnut or white oak veneer and natural or smoked cork.

Modern Felt Wall Art

For our wall art panels, natural materials such as wool felt, cork, leather, and wood are worked with skill and craftsmanship to produce durable wall art that often features an additional and highly beneficial layer of acoustic dampening. The deeply textured surfaces and engaging patterns can add a warm, rich visual focus to any residential space.

For our wall hangings, it is all about connections. Modular pattern elements are fashioned individually and then connected, creating a detailed and dimensional whole. Fabricated in soft, tactile materials such as leather, wool felt, or colorfully variegated cork, the wall hangings almost beg to be touched.

From its start in 2006 in the rain-drenched Pacific Northwest to our current sun-soaked New Mexico studio, Submaterial has always focused on natural and sustainable materials such as wool felt, cork, wood, and leather. These materials are fashioned by hand into beautifully surfaced wallcoverings, panels, screens, and more by our skilled fabricators using environmentally conscious and lean manufacturing processes.
