Social Media & Marketing Specialist

The Social Media & Marketing Specialist actively promotes Submaterial products and capabilities to the outside world, sharing
the story of our processes, history, and culture across all channels.  The Social Media & Marketing Specialist will be responsible for social media content strategy and implementation, helping drive engagement during an exciting time of growth for the company.

 The clear communication of the Submaterial story and the concise expression of our culture and brand are critically important to our success. The Social Media & Marketing Specialist works to reflect the company’s vision, values, and priorities in all activities. This position will report to the Marketing Manager.

Submaterial LLC designs and fabricates a wide range of interior wall art, wall covering, and interior products by hand, using natural and sustainable materials in our Albuquerque, New Mexico studio. These products are specified by top national architecture and interior design firms. We are a unique, sustainability-focused creative studio with a pet-friendly culture and an ongoing mission to foster a supportive, human-focused working environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Marketing Team, manage the social content calendar, including ideation, asset creation, copywriting, and scheduling for social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and others as they become appropriate.
  • Provide a week-to-two-week ahead view of current outreach to the Marketing Team.
  • Optimize the use of all social media channels to communicate the Submaterial story, engage and grow audiences, and build meaningful connections with followers.
  • Organize and maintain the social media assets within the photo library.
  • Understand and communicate analytical data surrounding content trends and engagement. Track, analyze, and report social media and website key performance indicators, presenting goals and results quarterly to stakeholders.
  • Assist in in-house and off-site photoshoots, selecting and securing photo props, locations, and photographers necessary.
  • Actively engage with online users, stimulating, guiding, and participating in conversations.
  • Assist/edit blog content in collaboration with the Marketing Manager.
  • Provide editorial and SEO support for Submaterial’s website and online store, as needed.
  • Assist with the planning, creation, and dispatch of marketing mailings.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of marketing events and projects, including tradeshows, open houses, holiday markets, and annual pet calendar.
  • Contribute to market research completed in-house.

Qualifications:

  • Proactive, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and creative thinker.
  • Strong storytelling, editing, and writing skills across various formats.
  • Passionate about the role social media plays in connecting businesses and people.
  • Experience with content management, social/web monitoring platforms, and editing programs, including (ideally) Airtable, Meta Business Manager, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Shopify, and SEMrush.
  • Experience with social media trends and remaining current with new technologies and social media best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with all levels of employees and management.
  • Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple tasks and adjust to changing schedules and priorities.
  • Comfortable familiarity with Microsoft Office, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with a learning mindset.

Highly Desired Experience:

  • Strong photography skills, including experience with professional lighting setup and equipment.
  • Product and/or interiors photography experience.
  • High level of competency with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, with a working knowledge of video editing.

    Schedule Expectations and Working Conditions:
  • 40 hours per week (8:30 – 4:30 Monday through Friday), on-site, with occasional work outside regular hours. This role navigates between office, photoshoot, production, and meeting environments; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.

    Salary and Benefits:
  • Hourly rate between $25-$28.
