Cork | Planar

Fabricated with one of the world’s oldest and most sustainable materials, Submaterial’s new tile-based floor-to-ceiling solution, called Cork | Planar, offers a warm and straightforward accent wall option for interior spaces.

Planar is fabricated with square and rectangular tiles in various sizes from 6” by 6” to 12” by 24” and a rainbow of cork hues, from large flake natural and smoked cork, to small composite cork with adhesive binders tinted red, black, blue, or green, to confetti-like cork made from recycled sneakers.  Each tone exhibits variation due to its natural origins and specific processing. Much like our beloved wool felt, we celebrate its variation, not aiming for strict consistency, but highlighting the changing tones and color densities.

And Planar's sustainability is not just skin-deep. The backing for these tiles is acoustic board from the post-industrial waste of other product lines. Not only does this reuse make Planar more climate-friendly, but the backing material also provides acoustic dampening, giving the final product both style and practicality.
