Fabricated with one of the world’s oldest and most sustainable materials, Submaterial’s new tile-based floor-to-ceiling solution, called Cork | Planar, offers a warm and straightforward accent wall option for interior spaces.
Planar is fabricated with square and rectangular tiles in various sizes from 6” by 6” to 12” by 24” and a rainbow of cork hues, from large flake natural and smoked cork, to small composite cork with adhesive binders tinted red, black, blue, or green, to confetti-like cork made from recycled sneakers. Each tone exhibits variation due to its natural origins and specific processing. Much like our beloved wool felt, we celebrate its variation, not aiming for strict consistency, but highlighting the changing tones and color densities.
And the sustainability of Planar is not just surface deep. The backing for these tiles is acoustic board created as post-industrial waste from other product lines. Not only does this reuse allow Planar to be more climate-friendly, but the backing material also provides acoustic dampening, giving the final product both style and practicality.

Shipping & Return Policy
Most of our products are made to order, therefore we offer returns or exchanges due to manufacturer’s defect only. Items must be returned in the original packaging and have no visible signs of wear or use. If you have a concern, please contact us within 3 business days of receipt of your product. Please retain the original packaging and wait for instructions from our sales team. Should a replacement product be required, an appropriate lead time will be quoted.
In the event we issue a refund, funds will go to the original payment method.
Sale items and custom products are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

Where are your products made?
Our products are made by real humans in the USA. Submaterial products are fabricated by hand in our Albuquerque, NM design studio and manufacturing facility.
How long will it take to get my orders?
Ready-to-ship products will ship 1-2 days from the time of the purchase. Lead times for custom products are usually 8-10 weeks.
